Steve is a research diver, photojournalist, and ocean advocate who manages Deep Blue Monthly, an online magazine that features news on marine science, citizen science and ocean conservation. He advises ocean research and conservation organizations like MigraMar, helping them create blueprints for success – strategic, marketing, and project plans.
Since joining MigraMar as a research diver and advisor, Steve began tagging migratory sharks underwater. He also photographs, films, and writes about our beautiful oceans and the tragedy of the commons in the Pacific, exploring the effects of overfishing, plastics, warming, acidification, and deoxygenation which are currently decimating marine species and systems.
Steve is currently filming for a documentary, “Shark Finale” on the formidable economic, political, and physical challenges that ocean scientists face in seeking to establish greater protections for migratory sharks, whales and turtles in the Eastern Pacific.
